JETS VS. BILLS: BUFFALO DOMINATES JETS IN WEEK 2 MATCHUP

By Nikki Gist

Week 2 kicked off Sunday, September 14, with the Jets hosting the Bills at MetLife Stadium in an AFC East showdown.

New York opened with the ball but went three-and-out immediately, killing any momentum left over from last week’s moral victory against the Steelers. Buffalo marched down the field on its first possession and punched in a one-yard touchdown run by James Cook. A few minutes before the end of the first quarter, Josh Allen briefly exited after a hit to the nose, forcing Mitchell Trubisky to step in. Bills Mafia and Fantasy Football owners exhaled when Allen returned just a few plays later.

With 30 seconds left in the half, Justin Fields scrambled for 27 yards to midfield, but two drops and a throwaway killed the drive. The Jets went into the locker room down 20–3.

Buffalo kept control in the second half as Allen and the Bills ground game continued to have their way with the Jets. Fields was eventually ruled out with a concussion and ended the day going just 3-for-11 for 27 yards, leaving Tyrod Taylor to finish out the game. Taylor salvaged a late garbage-time touchdown, but the Bills’ defense who gave up 40 points in Week 1 to the Ravens looked sharp and stifled the Jets from start to finish.

For all of Aaron Glenn’s talk about discipline, his team showed little of it on Sunday. The Jets looked overmatched, unprepared, and undisciplined. Ironically, it seems that a lack of discipline is the theme that both MetLife tenants seem to be living out today.

Next up: a trip to Tampa to take on the Buccaneers, where another long day could be waiting for Gang Green. #JetUp
