BRICK – To paraphrase the words of DJ Khaled, “All they do is win.” No phrase could be truer for the St. Thomas Aquinas gymnastics team. Ranked No. 1 in the state for the better part of the season, and turning in dominant performance after dominant performance throughout the year, including the Greater Middlesex Conference Championship and sectional championship, all that STA had left to do was win a state championship to secure their spot in New Jersey high school sports history.
On an evening in early November at Brick Memorial High School, STA did just that. The Trojans finished the 2025 NJSIAA Gymnastics Team State Championship with a score of 114.025 to capture their 11th state crown, their first since 2013, and cemented their place in Garden State high school gymnastics history as the winningest program in the state.

As she has done all season, Supriyha Moore would be the catalyst for St. Thomas Aquinas. However, it was Middletown South’s Ava Trezza who showed the brightest as an individual. Trezza finished her evening with top-three finishes on every individual event, including a tie for first on the beam.
On the vault, St. John Vianney’s Giovannina Beltra, who had a good night of her own, led the way, finishing in first with a 9.775. Moore took second behind her with a 9.7 while her Trojan teammate, Shelby Reno, and Trezza tied for third with identical 9.625s.
Beltra again took top honors on the uneven bars, securing a first-place finish with a 9.775. Trezza followed Beltra in second with a 9.675, and Beltra’s SJV teammate, Sierra Vaz, finished in third with a 9.5.
Trezza and St. Thomas Aquinas’ Sophia Bertocci tied for first on the balance beam with matching 9.7 scores. St. John Vianney’s Kate DeSimone took home third on the beam for the Lancers with a 9.65.
Finishing up on floor exercise, Moore led the way with an energetic floor routine, finishing in first with an outstanding 9.825, even garnering a 9.9 from two judges. Trezza was not far behind Moore in second place, scoring a very respectable 9.8. Hillsborough’s Madison Chiodo and Midd South’s Cameryn Czwakiel finished in a tie for third place on the floor with 9.65s.
Rounding out the team standings, St. John Vianney finished in second with a team score of 113.100, Middletown South took third with a 111.700, Mount Olive placed fourth with a 110.525, Hillsborough finished fifth with a 110.350, Lenepe placed sixth scoring a 108.650, Brick took seventh with a 108.325, and Scotch Plains-Fanwood finished in eighth with a 105.350.
The 2025 New Jersey high school gymnastics season concludes Saturday with the NJSIAA Individual Championships at Brick Memorial High School.
