Rutgers scored four penalty shootout goals, compared to just one from Syracuse, to top the No. 12 Orange 2-1 at Bauer Track and Field and Hockey Complex on Sept. 6, 2026, capping the 2026 ACC/Big Ten Challenge in exciting fashion.

The Scarlet Knights, who again found themselves trailing a top-25 opponent in the fourth quarter for the second time this weekend, got the equalizing goal from Olivia Fraticelli in the 56th minute of regulation.  Rutgers netminder Emily Nicholls made six saves in goal for RU.

Rutgers held a slight 9-7 edge in shots on goal and an 11-2 margin in corners against Syracuse.

The Scarlet Knights improved to 2-3 on the season and will be back in action on Friday when they travel to Princeton to take on the No. 2 Tigers.
