Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein at the Shakespeare Theatre of New Jersey

October 30, 2025

Today is Hallow’s Eve, and in the spirit of gothic storytelling we look at the Shakespeare Theatre of New Jersey, where Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein is now captivating audiences.

This stunning new production, adapted by playwright David Catlin and directed by Brian B. Crowe, brings Shelley’s classic tale to life, not just as a story of horror, but as a profound exploration of humanity, morality, and the power of creation. It’s now running through November 16th at the F.M. Kirby Shakespeare Theatre on the campus of Drew University in Madison.

Joining us this morning is Amber Friendly, who plays both Mary Shelley herself, the brilliant young author who conceived the tale, and Elizabeth, Victor Frankenstein’s fiancée within the story she tells.
