Councilman James Solomon – has been elected mayor of Jersey City. Solomon beat out former New Jersey Govenor Jim McGreevey – in a runoff election and was declared the winner shortly after the polls closed on Tuesday night.

Police are investigating, after a man was fatally struck by a New Jersey Transit train, near the train station in Summit. The incident forced the Morris & Essex line – to be suspended in both directions. 500 people were on board at the time.

After 22 years with the Brick Township Police Department, Officer Sean Flynn is retiring.Throughout his time with the agency, Flynn served with the – Patrol Division and the Ocean County — Narcotic Strike – Force Team.

Several former and current New Jersey Devils players – were at RWJ Barnabas Health Hospitals across the state, to spread cheer during the holiday season. They delivered gifts and took pictures with staff and patients.
