A puddle on the Rutgers University Campus in New Brunswick has been named the most romantic place in the Garden State.
Known as Passion Puddle, this location is actually a tiny pond between Cook and Douglas campuses on Red Oak Lane. This quaint location is frequented by young couples from Rutgers University.
Travel + Leisure designed a list evaluating the most romantic locations in each state, naming this hidden gem as a great spot for those in love.
The website highlights Rutgers customs, writing “according to Rutgers tradition, anyone who walks around the pond three times with their lover will marry them — so be sure that your pond-side strolling is done with the right person.”
Passion Puddle has another tradition as well. If a female student from Douglas College and a male student from Cook College hold hands and walk around the pond, they will have a fairytale romance, resulting in a happy lifelong marriage.
