Chaos In Newark: The Devils Create Havoc For Seattle

By Jordan Beaudoin

On Wednesday night, New Jersey Devils fans were treated to a classic battle between their favorite team and the Seattle Kraken. This game was full of back and forth between these two teams until it all came to an end in overtime. The Devils managed to work their magic in overtime and beat the Kraken by a final score of 3-2.

In the first period, the Devils came flying out of the gate like they meant business. It didn’t take long; 54 seconds into the game, Cody Glass scored and it was the perfect way to get the Prudential Center crowd fired up.

However, Seattle was not intimidated. Adam Larsson came back with a finish of his own later in the frame to let everyone in the arena know that tonight was going to be an actual battle between these two teams.

The middle frame really brought the buzz of special teams and momentum swings from both sides. Nico Hischier turned up the heat during the second period by scoring the Devils’ second goal of the night. He scored on a well executed power-play shot that allowed New Jersey to take a 2-1 lead.

Seattle responded quickly with Jared McCann scoring a clutch goal to tie the game. Both teams put up a harder fight after the first 40 minutes of this game.

The third period was very cagey and no one was able to get anything up on the board. Both teams went back and forth for the rest of the game. They both had outstanding goalies that were able to make the stops when they needed to be made. The defenses kept the other from scoring. However, neither side could find a breakthrough point.

This game actually headed into overtime at a standstill. In the overtime period, New Jersey struck gold. Hischier came back again and completed this game for the team. He found the winner at 1:18 of overtime and ended the game. Hischier sealed the deal and secured the extra point for New Jersey which sent the entire arena into a frenzy.

This win was not just about the two points, it showed that the Devils can compete with tough Western Conference opponents. They know how to grind out games and work together to make things happen. Seattle came in ready to fight but New Jersey had other plans for them.
