Rutgers University – New Brunswick has been named the 15th top public university in the country, joining the list of other NJ schools, including Princeton University, which takes the top spot.
This is the second year that Rutgers has made an appearance as the 15th top public university, according to the 2025 U.S. News & World Report list.
Rutgers University – New Brunswick also ranked on the ‘Best National University’ list, placing at number 41. The university ranked above other New Jersey schools; Stevens Institute of Technology took the 76th spot, NJIT the 84th position, Rutgers University – Newark the 80th and Rutgers University – Camden as 98th.
Rutgers – Newark and Rutgers – Camden rose in their rankings this year, with the former ranking as number 39, one spot above its previous ranking of the top 50 public universities. Rutgers – Camden was named the number 46th out of 50 top public universities, whereas it was named number 49 last year.
In the U.S News & World Report Report, Rutgers – Newark appeared in the ‘social mobility’ category, ranking as number five this year in comparison to its ranking as number 21 last year. Rutgers – Camden placed in the fifth spot, and Rutgers – New Brunswick in the 36h spot.
In an assessment of the Big Ten Conference public universities, Rutgers – New Burnswick earned the number fifth spot on the list.
