A power outage resulting in broken traffic lights led to a car crash on Church Road in Toms River on Monday morning.
The car crash occurred at 10 AM at the intersection between Church Road and North Bay Avenue, as reported by Lieutenant Scott Moeller.
The vehicles were headed in different directions, with one moving south on North Bay Avenue and the other going east on Church Road. The motor vehicle on North Bay Avenue crashed into the truck on Church Road, subsequently turning over from the impact.
The drivers sustained slight injuries, and one of the drivers was transported to a hospital soon after the incident. No further information is known about the condition of the drivers at this moment.
A spokesman for JCP&L, Christopher Hoenig, reported that a malfunctioning breaker led to the widespread power outage that affected the stop lights. Around 2,500 homes in Toms River and Lakewood were impacted by the power outage.
