The Philadelphia Eagles remain undefeated on the season so far standing at a 3-0 record. In the first two weeks of the season they played their rivals, the Dallas Cowboys and a Super Bowl rematch with the Kansas City Chiefs. This past Sunday they showed why they are the defending champions.
The Eagles took on the Los Angeles Rams at home. The Eagles beat the Rams twice last season winning in their regular season matchup and in the divisional round of the playoffs. The Rams started the first half on fire as they would lead against the Eagles 19-7 at halftime. In the third quarter Matthew Stafford threw a 10-yard pass to Kyren Williams for the touchdown and the field goal made by Joshua Karty extended the Rams lead to 26-7. It looked to be over but that would be the last time the Rams would score.
Jalen Hurts threw a 38-yard dime to A.J Brown which set up a 33-yard touchdown pass from Hurts to Goedert. The Rams punted and the Eagles had a 13-play drive which culminated in a A.J Brown touchdown cutting the lead to 26-21. L.A. had a chance to extend the lead to a two possession game but their field goal attempt was blocked. Philadelphia went right back to work. On fourth-and-goal Jalen Hurts threw a four-yard touchdown pass to Devonta Smith to give the Eagles the lead. They then tried to go for a two point conversion but it was no good.
The Rams had a chance to win the game as Matt Stafford threw dime after dime which ended up in Eagles territory. Joshua Karty, the Rams kicker, looked to kick a 44-yard field goal to win the game but it was blocked and Jordan Davis returned it for a touchdown. The Eagles won 33-26. They outscored the Rams 26-7 in the second half.
The Eagles looked like their old selves in the win against Rams especially on the offensive end. In the previous two games offensively they were in the middle of the pack and bottom of the league. A.J Brown and Devonta Smith weren’t their best in those games. When push came to shove they showed up and performed like one of the best receiver duos in the league. The whole offense had their best performance of the season so far and they need it coming into this week. They play the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on the road.
The Bucs have won their past two matchups against the Eagles, coming last regular season and the year before in the wild card. The Bucs are also undefeated being 3-0 on the season but each game has come down to the wire. Quarterback Baker Mayfield has led the Bucs to three straight consecutive wins.
Tampa Bay does have a key injury in veteran wide receiver Mike Evans who is out with a hamstring injury and is expected to miss three-to-four weeks. The Bucs have a new receiving weapon in rookie Emeka Egbuka. The Eagles and Bucs are two of the three teams in the NFC with a 3-0 record along with the San Francisco 49ers. One of these two teams will end up with their first loss of the season so far.
