Jets Cowboys Recap: Jetting to 0-5

By Nikki Gist

Same old Jets — just a different Sunday.

Five weeks into the 2025 season, the Jets have a new head coach in Aaron Glenn and a new quarterback in Justin Fields — yet somehow, it’s the same story all over again. New faces, same results.

For most of the game, the Jets couldn’t get anything going. And when they did, it was “two steps forward, two steps back.” Not until late in the fourth quarter did the offense string together a couple of scoring drives, but by then, it was too little too late. Dallas had already made one too many big plays and put the game out of reach.

Gang Green’s habit of playing uninspired football is taking its toll and it’s not just in the locker room, but across the fan base. The frustration is palpable. Fans are airing it out on social media and, for those who stayed past halftime, in person at MetLife. Season ticket holders made their disappointment loud and clear, booing for most of the game.

To be fair, the Jets aren’t the only New York team stuck in this cycle of mediocrity. Between the Jets and Giants, it’s no wonder MetLife Stadium feels like a “home away from home” for visiting teams every weekend.

Five weeks might seem early to question Aaron Glenn, Justin Fields, and the rest of the staff  but at 0-5, it’s a conversation worth having. How does a team look solid in Week 1, then progressively worse as the weeks go on? You could ask the same thing about Brian Daboll and the Giants. The parallels between both franchises are uncanny. Two teams infected by the same disease: a losing culture.

And yet, the Jets did make history on Sunday. It just wasn’t the kind they wanted. Gang Green became the first team to start 0-5 without generating a single turnover. They currently rank dead last in the league with a -8 turnover margin.

The Jets desperately need playmakers, but when a losing culture has hovered over a franchise for decades, it’s hard to see how anything changes.

Next week, the Jets travel to London to face the Denver Broncos. A team that just made a statement by knocking off the reigning Super Bowl champion Eagles. The Jets might be taking flight overseas, but turbulence is almost guaranteed. #jetup #jets #cowboys
